Question: Is it possible to create a glamorous living area with a dark green carpet? The brief is you can do anything you want to the room except replace the carpet. So any colour, any furniture ... it’s wide open.

When I first saw a photo of the carpet, it reminded me of summertime: the restful, inviting hue of an old forest, one that says, “Come on in and put your feet up.” It’s a sense of natural peace and tranquillity, a summer-day ambience that I hope to bring to life in this room.

Inspiration

Styling advice:
Blending dark green with oak and beech creates a relaxed mood that offers an inviting background for neutral colours offset by black and white accessories. A vase (or two) filled with colourful blooms infuses the room with a sense of enthusiasm the way only nature can. Oversized scatter cushions invite relaxation, while gold accessories, such as these lamps or small candle holders, add dramatic elements.

Scrolling text

The text can move across the screen at a certain speed determined by you. You can change the background color and different color for your text.

Note, however, that while it looks nice to have scrolling announcements, advertisements, quotations, or links, having too much animation in your website may distract and irritate your readers.

Here are some examples:-

You'll get a window that allows you to select an image or multiple images from your computer.
1. Click the Browse button to locate the ones you want. Alternatively, you can enter the URL of an image that's already online and insert it into your post.
2. Choose a layout to customize the way your images will appear in your post:

You can align the text or pictures by selecting the text or picture and clicking the Align icon.

How do I moderate comments?

The ability to moderate comments as they are added to your website can be very handy if you want to catch any comment spam before it reaches your page or if you'd like control over the kind of messages people can leave on your website. You can find the comment moderation setting on the Settings | Comments tab, along with all of the other comment settings:

- Always
- Only on posts older than .... days
- Never

Selecting "Always" will automatically enable comment moderation for all incoming comments on your website. You may also choose to moderate only older comments by specifying a number of days in the "Only on posts older than" setting. Selecting "Never" will disable comment moderation for this website.

If you entered an email address for moderation, you will get a message for each comment which will contain "Publish" and "Reject" links. This lets you moderate comments via email without affecting your regular comment notification setting.

A few basic tips for writing readable content

Be crystal clear about the products and/or services you offer.

Your most important message should be at the top of the page.

Keep it short and simple. People tend to scan rather than read. So organise information in bullet points or short paragraphs with headings. Make it easy for the reader to get your message quickly.

Find the right tone and language to suit your brand identity. If your business is edgy and casual – have some fun with the content. If your business is educational – use a more formal tone but try to avoid too many technical terms.

Make sure the spelling and grammar check out.

You can use any free hosting service to host files and link them to your web pages. Free hosting is available at:

In this example, I’ve uploaded a PDF file to Google docs.
1. Log in to your google account.
2. Click on “Documents”. This is located in the top left hand corner of the page.

3. Click on “Select files to upload”

4. Click on “Private” and select “Anyone with the link” (or choose another option to set permission to access the file)

5. Click on “Start upload”
6. After the upload is complete, click on "Back to Google Docs"
7. Click on the file you want to share and then click on “Share” and then “Sharing settings...”
8. Copy the link displayed.

9. Log in to your post. Then choose the word that you want your viewers to click on to download the PDF file. Now select that word. Click on the icon in Step 10.
10. Paste the link from Step 8 into the dialog box and click OK.

11. When viewers click on the selected word, they will get a dialog box prompting them to download your file.
